Hewlett-Packard to add 2,000 jobs in Costa Rica

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica (XFN-ASIA) - US computer maker Hewlett-Packard Co is planning to add some 2,000 jobs to its operations center in Costa Rica, a company spokesman said here.

The company already employs 3,200 people in its operations center in the central American nation of about 4 mln people.

Cesar Trujillo, one of the company's top regional officials, said that by 2007 its goal is to have some 6,000 employees in Costa Rica.

Sundays and Mondays are the best days to look for jobs in the country's largest newspaper - La Nacion and each week it seems that more and more display advertisements are in English.

Amongst the English language 'blue-chip' jobs advertisers this last Sunday and Monday were: Fujitsu Consulting, WalMart, Western Union, Teradyne, US Airways, AdvanceMe Inc, Datascension and Advansys.

And Friday, Saturday and Sunday (28th - 30th July) the Bilingual Job Fair is being held in San Jose at the Centro Nacional de Cultura.

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica -- Costa Rica has relaxed visa requirements for visitors from 102 nations, officials said Monday, in the Central American country's most sweeping migration reform in decades

Migration Director Mario Zamora said the government officials decided to ease the red tape to help boost Costa Rica's tourism industry and assist foreign investors who operate businesses in the country.
